All Mint workers have an obligation to workplace health and safety and must take reasonable care of their health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their activities.
In accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, the Mint is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment to all employees, contractors and visitors. The Mint considers a safe work environment one that is safe physically and psychologically.
The Mint provides a safe work environment by:
• Maintaining certification to ISO45001 – Workplace Health and Safety
• Assessing task risks and applying necessary controls
• Providing task specific WHS training
• A functional Health and Safety Committee
• Timely reporting of workplace incidents ensuring actions are taken to rectify hazards
• Employee wellbeing initiatives e.g. flu vaccinations and workstation assessments.
The Mint has a dedicated Work Health and Safety (WHS) team, responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining robust safety management systems at the Mint. The WHS team prioritises the well-being of our employees.
The Mint engages in mechanisms to prevent injury and illness through established incident reporting, WHS training, education, early-intervention, rehabilitation, return-to-work and employee assistance programs.
