I acknowledge the Ngunnawal people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we gather. I pay my respects to Elders past and present.
Meeting on this land gives us an opportunity to reflect that long before coins were struck on this site, this Country, and others around Australia, held their own systems of exchange, connection, and responsibility, and that First Nations Australians valued traditions of storytelling to foster knowledge.
The Mint plays its part in striking stories of Australia and the cultures that make up our community. I acknowledge that this is a long tradition surviving millennia that we undertake to perpetuate.
