With dice in hand and money in the bank, the Royal Australian Mint is excited to feature on the Canberra edition of Monopoly, launched at the National Museum today.

Assistant Minister for Charities, Competition and Treasury, Andrew Leigh, says he was pleased that the Mint were included in the prestigious release.

The Royal Australian Mint is celebrating its gold win at the 2023 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, announced in Darwin last Friday night.

The Mint was named as Australia’s Best Cultural Tourism destination ahead of Immersive Tours and Adventures (Queensland) and Geelong Gallery (Victoria).

About 300 people tried their luck to make national and international history this morning, and strike the first coin for 2024 at the Royal Australian Mint.

But only Izzy Zaharis, of Wollongong, as the first person drawn from the barrel, became the only person in Australia to take home the very first collectible commemorative coin featuring the new King Charles III effigy.

The Royal Australian Mint was a hive of activity after the official closing time on New Year’s Eve, as more than 600 people gathered in the hope of being chosen to make the last coin of 2023.

Justin Maloney, from Melbourne, was picked from hundreds in the ballot to become today’s history maker and mint the final coin.
