Family Fun Day

FamilyFunDay Promotional Whats-on Banner

In 1965, Australia adopted decimal currency and the Royal Australian Mint opened, marking a new era in the nation’s history. Sixty years on, the Mint has produced billions of coins and welcomed millions of visitors. To celebrate this milestone, you’re invited to a free Family Fun Day on Saturday, 28 February, from 10am to 4pm.

The Mint grounds will come alive with live music, a coin swap, kids coin trade, face painting, BBQ and activities for both experienced collectors and those new to coin collecting. Expert Mint speakers will share insights into the coin-making process, from design to production.

Collectors can exchange cash for collectible and coloured circulating coins, while children aged 5–12 can trade ordinary coins for special Mint pieces. A 60th anniversary coin with an exclusive ‘60’ countermark will also be available to press on the day.

Explore the coin museum, enjoy a picnic or visit the Mint Café. Entry is free, family- and wheelchair-friendly, with parking available.
