Perth test match to start with the Mint's new commemorative Centenary coin

The second Ansett Australia test match at the WACA will start with the special $1 proof coin from the Royal Australian Mint. The Ansett Australia test match between Australia and the West Indies starts in Perth on 1 December.

A similar coin was used at the Test match in Brisbane and the toss certainly went Australia's way.

Australian Cricket Board to use Mint's new commemorative Centenary coin for test match

The Australian Cricket Board will use the special $1 proof coin from the Royal Australian Mint's new year 2001 Mint Set during the toss of the first Ansett Australia Test Match between Australia and the West Indies in Brisbane on the 23rd November.

The $1 proof coin, dated 2001, to be used has the special Centenary of Federation logo on it in colour.

Phar Lap's on the money

Phar Lap comes to life on two new $5 collector coins released by the Royal Australian Mint to celebrate 70 years since his historic win at the Melbourne Cup. The coins will be officially launched by The Hon Joe Hockey MP, Federal Minister for Financial Services and Regulation, on 1 April at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse.
