The Royal Australian Mint and the Australian Cricket Board are teaming up to bring the Centenary of Federation coins to Australia's attention through sport. Since their release in mid-November, the 2001 Six Coin Sets have been making an appearance at sporting arenas all over Australia, becoming the envy of cricket players, fans and even the Prime Minister.

The Royal Australian Mint has just announced that The Present coin, second in the extremely popular Millennium Coin Series, has sold out.

The second Ansett Australia test match at the WACA will start with the special $1 proof coin from the Royal Australian Mint. The Ansett Australia test match between Australia and the West Indies starts in Perth on 1 December.

A similar coin was used at the Test match in Brisbane and the toss certainly went Australia's way.

The Australian Cricket Board will use the special $1 proof coin from the Royal Australian Mint's new year 2001 Mint Set during the toss of the first Ansett Australia Test Match between Australia and the West Indies in Brisbane on the 23rd November.

The $1 proof coin, dated 2001, to be used has the special Centenary of Federation logo on it in colour.

The Royal Australian Mint, the National Mint, has released a new $1 collector coin commemorating the action, a hundred years ago, that resulted in the awarding of Australia's first Victoria Cross (VC). The VC is the highest military award available to members of the Commonwealth military forces.

An official striking of Olympic Victory Medals will be carried out at a special function at 10am on Wednesday 7 June, by the Minister for Financial Services & Regulation, The Hon Joe Hockey MP, who is the Minister responsible for the Royal Australian Mint.

Phar Lap comes to life on two new $5 collector coins released by the Royal Australian Mint to celebrate 70 years since his historic win at the Melbourne Cup. The coins will be officially launched by The Hon Joe Hockey MP, Federal Minister for Financial Services and Regulation, on 1 April at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse.
