The Royal Australian Mint’s beloved Koala Series has returned with a third release.
The 2026 Koala Series, comprising of four coins, follows the success of the 2025 Koala Series. There are two investment coins including the 2026 $1 1 oz Silver Investment Coin - Koala Series and the 2026 $100 1 oz Gold Investment Coin - Koala Series. These are accompanied by the 2026 $5 1 oz High Relief Silver Proof Coin - Koala Series and the 2026 50c Uncirculated Coin - Koala Series all featuring the same koala design.
The design brings life to these iconic Australian animals, with three koalas nestled among eucalyptus branches.
The 2026 $5 1 oz High Relief Silver Proof Coin - Koala Series is exclusively available via the Mint. It is packaged displayed in a Royal Australian Mint presentation case and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
Behind The Design
Koalas are symbolic of Australia’s diverse and rich wildlife. The coins capture the charm of the koala, featuring three koalas nestled among eucalyptus branches, with eucalyptus leaves forming a pattern in the background, and giving a sense of the tree canopy.
The koala is a marsupial known for its thick grey fur, rounded ears and distinctive spoon-shaped nose. Despite their cuddly appearance, koalas are solitary and selective creatures, feeding almost exclusively on eucalyptus leaves and spending most of their time resting in the trees.
