Spring in Canberra means one thing – Floriade About Town. As the city bursts into colour, the Mint is celebrating the season with floral-inspired tours and treats from 13 September to 12 October.
Make the Mint part of your Floriade adventure. We’re running free daily tours at 11:00am, 11:30am, 2:00pm and 2:30pm, where you’ll discover how flowers have been beautifully immortalised on Australian coins. From native blossoms to commemorative designs, these coins capture stories of our nation through blooms.
After your tour, savour our special Floriade-themed menu in the Mint Café. Enjoy a delicate flower cupcake, indulge in rose-infused French toast with strawberry ice-cream, or relax with a calming lavender latte. These limited-edition creations are perfect for a sweet stop during your Floriade travels – and just as photogenic as they are delicious.
The Royal Australian Mint is one of Canberra’s must-visit attractions. As a working factory, it offers visitors the rare chance to watch coins being made from the viewing platform. You can also explore Reflection, an exhibition that celebrates Australia’s national flower, the golden wattle — and its special place in the Australian honours system.
This spring, as Canberra blooms, discover flowers not only in our gardens but also in our nation’s coins. With free tours, seasonal café delights and a behind-the-scenes look at the art of coin-making, the Mint is an experience you won’t want to miss.
