The Royal Australian Mint partners with Australian-based retailers to release large-scale national collectable coin programs that celebrate Australian stories with the Australian public.
Since 2016, the Mint has partnered with reputable Australian organisations to release large-scale, collectible coin programs, reaching new and existing audiences, and increasing brand awareness and store visitation, while highlighting the value and appeal of Australian coins.
Specially minted coins substitute the standard coins in cash registers of a retail partner, with customers able to access the coins from the change received when making a cash transaction. These programs harness the large geographic footprint of retail partners, ensuring accessibility of these special collectable coins across the country.
The Mint has worked with many partners, including Woolworths, Australia Post and Anaconda, to develop and release specially designed collectible coin programs, including the 2024 Australian Olympic and Paralympic Teams Coin Program, the 2024 Bluey Coin Program and the 2024 National Rugby League Coin Program.
