About the Mint

The Royal Australian Mint is where Australia’s coins are made — and where history, craftsmanship, and family adventures come to life. Whether you're exploring rare collections or planning a fun, educational outing with the kids, there's something for everyone to discover.

Step into the world of coins

The Royal Australian Mint is a multi-tourism award-winning cultural attraction, a working factory and a Commonwealth Heritage Site. Open since 1965, we offer a unique visitor experience watching our working factory in action, producing coins and other products. For collectors, history buffs and anyone fascinated by the stories behind our currency, the Royal Australian Mint is a treasure trove of discovery. Free to visit, the Royal Australian Mint lets you immerse yourself in the evolution of Australia’s coins, from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander trade, through colonial innovation to modern-day masterpieces.

Museum and Factory Viewing Gallery

Across two floors, our Museum shares objects from our National Coin Collection, with displays of rare and historical coins. Learn about the artistry, symbolism and stories of change woven into each piece. Our Museum also holds archival pieces from colonial Australia, coin presses from older Australian Mints, games and interactives. In our Factory Viewing Gallery, you can watch the makers of our coins — our robot and human staff — in action. We run daily tours and hold regular special exhibitions.
