It is more than 80 years since the ANZACs fought for our heritage - sadly there are only three original ANZACs still living.
We will never forget them.
The Royal Australian Mint will help us remember with the release of a special commemorative $1 Fine Silver Proof Coin - titled THE LAST ANZACS.
This special coin will be launched by Bruce Scott, Minister assisting the Minister for Defence and Dr Charles Howse grandson of Sir Neville Howse and Major General Rupert Downes, both medical officers and ANZACs, whose achievements have cemented a place in history.
The coin will be carried from The Mint to The Australian War Memorial in an ASLAV - Australian Light Armoured Vehicle supplied by the Australian Army and will arrive at approximately 9.45am.

The coin design depicts an ANZAC Soldier in a slouch hat - young, courageous and proud. This coin has been meticulously designed and sculptured to a proof finish. Proof meaning that the coin has been struck to show a smooth mirror-like background, contrasted by a raised frosted design.
This magnificent coin has been produced in fine silver, to the Mint’s strictest quality guidelines. A limited mintage of just 25,000 will be produced, making this coin a rare keepsake. The coins are encapsulated and packed in a jewellery-style case. An attractive outer box featuring ANZAC Cove adds the finishing touch to this unique collectable.
The Mint has also struck mintmark coins bearing the same design of the ANZAC soldier. Mintmarks have a letter next to the design to signify for which Australian Capital City the coin was struck. These coins are made from aluminium bronze. Both versions are available from the Royal Australian Mint by calling 1300 652 020. The silver coin is $32.00 and the mintmark is $2.00.
