Celebrate the Festive Season with the Royal Australian Mint’s Christmas Decoration Coin

In 2019, the Royal Australian Mint (the Mint) released its first ever Christmas decoration coin with great success. In 2020 the Mint is excited to ring-in the festive season with a second beautiful Christmas decoration coin, inspired by Australia’s official floral emblem – golden wattle.

The 2020 50c Uncirculated Christmas Decoration Coin design features stylised golden wattle with leaves forming a Christmas bauble decoration. The coin design celebrates the unique shape and beauty of Australia’s national floral emblem, the Golden Wattle, with each spherical bloom reimagined as a Christmas starburst. A field of wattle stars is subtly curved in perspective at the edge of the coin to evoke an elegant vintage Christmas bauble of yesteryear.

“This coin is bursting with joy and festive sparkle. Wattle blossom stars pop and glitter across the faux convex surface, while five new soft-hued colour cards with foil accents perfectly compliment the unique and relaxed feeling of a summer Christmas in Australia” said coin designer - Ms Aleksandra Stokic.

“The Mint’s 2020 50c Christmas Coin Decoration Coin comes packaged in a range of stunning gift cards that pop-out - transforming the coin into a hanging decoration. This will be the perfect Kris Kringle gift for one and all this Christmas” said Royal Australian Mint CEO - Mr Ross MacDiarmid.

The Mint has produced five different coloured cards available to mix and match including: silver yellow, purple, green and red cards; and if you must have them all you can also buy all five of the cards as a set for $50.00.

The 2020 50c Uncirculated Christmas Decoration Coins are available from 3 September 2020 - retailing for $10.00 each.   Each coin is Australian legal tender and can be purchased from the Mint’s website, Contact Centre (1300 652 020) or the Royal Australian Mint’s Authorised Dealers.
