Passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
The Royal Australian Mint’s flags fly at half-mast and production of coins has been halted for today, as the Mint joins Australia and its fellow Commonwealth nations in honouring and paying respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of her passing. Since being opened by His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh in 1965, the Royal Australian Mint has produced over 15 billion decimal coins bearing the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
As a symbolic and ongoing tribute to Her Majesty’s years of service and the firm bond Australia shares with the United Kingdom, the Royal Australian Mint has marked many significant Royal milestones through coinage, including the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation in 2013 and the 70th wedding anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh in 2017, and the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.
The Mint extends its deepest sympathy to The Royal Family for their loss.
