Why?
The Royal Australian Mint will counterstamp the 2009 Master Mintmark $1 Uncirculated Coin. This will be a rare opportunity to buy what will be a very significant and limited edition in our 2009 numismatic program.
Where?
Right here at the Royal Australian Mint; Denison Street in Deakin ACT.
Friday 3 July: 9.00am - 4.00pm
Saturday 4 - Sunday 5 July: 10.00am - 4.00pm
Monday 6 July: 9.00am - 4.00pm & 4.30pm - 7.30pm in the evening
What happens if I cannot get to Canberra?
The Master Mintmark Counterstamp Coin will be available to buy through a number of Mint accredited dealers in your nearest capital city once the Mint shop event is over. View the Mint's website for accredited dealers; http://mintissue.ramint.gov.au/mintissue/INFO_dealers.asp. Please check the dealers own website for product availability as there will be a limited number of coins allocated to dealers.
Will it be available to purchase through the Mint website?
You will not be able to purchase the Master Mintmark Counterstamp Coin through the Mint website. The coin will only be available at the new Mint Coin Shop in Canberra on the dates mentioned above.
Collectors:
If you plan to visit the Mint and take advantage of this great opportunity then there are a few things you need to know:
- One coin per customer, per line-up. You can line up as many times as you wish but you can only buy one coin each time.
- Please be patient whilst we counterstamp your master mintmark coin. This is a slow process.
- At 3.00pm each day a member of the Mint staff will close off the line at a certain point because we can only counterstamp a maximum amount of coins each day within the shop opening hours.
- If mechanical issues with the press cause any delays the Mint will strive to rectify those issues as quickly as possible.
Note: The 2009 Master Mintmark $1 Uncirculated Coin (without counterstamp) will be available for purchase from 3 July 2009 from this website or by phoning our call centre on 1300 652 020.
