Join Dr Rick Williams for a free public talk about the impressions stamped on coins from Southern Italy in the 6th and 5th centuries BC and how their minting relates to Australia’s first coins - the holey dollar and dumps made in New South Wales in 1813. How do they compare? Can we draw links between the methods used to make them?

About the presenter: Dr Rick Williams gained his PhD from Monash University in 1983. He has since written publications focusing on experiments in manufacturing and striking coins from antiquity. Dr Rick Williams has run educational Parliamentary programs in Parliament House, managed Cooma Cottage in Yass for the National Trust of NSW, taught in Primary Schools and is currently a Gallery Host at the National Archives of Australia.
