Saddle up Queensland, the Bushrangers are headed your way in June!

This year the Royal Australian Mint’s Roadshow, Bushrangers – The Bold, the Bad and the Ugly commemorates some of Australia’s most notorious bushrangers. As Australia’s colonies developed, bushrangers roamed the countryside: some were anti-establishment heroes to the common people, whilst some were forced into a life of crime. Although feared, Australia’s wild colonial Bushrangers also sparked a legacy of art and folklore, that continues to shape our nation’s psyche, and helped to create the myth of the Australian ‘larrikin’.

Royal Australian Mint Coin Launch | Australian National Maritime Museum

On Tuesday 14 May 2019, the Royal Australian Mint will launch a new coin series titled ‘Mutiny & Rebellion’. The first release in this three coin series reflects on the ‘Mutiny on the Bounty’.

This series acknowledges events and people from Australia’s tempestuous colonial era who blazed into mutiny and rebellion. The second and third coins in 'Mutiny & Rebellion' series will examine the ‘Rum Rebellion’ and the 'Eureka Stockade'. Each of these events contributed to the eventual rule of law and an egalitarian democracy within Australia.
