Silver and gold: unique Australian objects 1830–1910

This latest exhibition, which opens today at the Royal Australian Mint showcases exceptional nineteenth and early twentieth century Australian silver and gold objects drawn from the National Gallery of Australia’s significant collection of colonial decorative arts and design. The theme of this exhibition is celebration, with objects marking significant personal, community and professional achievements and milestones, or displays of prosperity and artistic accomplishment.

The Mint gets into gear for Summernats 31

With Australia’s biggest horsepower party less than a month away, the Mint has made plans to join the action at the annual Street Machine Car Festival SUMMERNATS 31 next month.

In celebration of one of Australia’s best known automobile manufacturers, the Mint will have a limited number of the highly sought-after eleven individual coins from the Australian Ford Classic Collection available for purchase, priced at $15 each. In addition to this, the stand will be selling a range of recent release products including the 2017 $2 Coloured Circulating Remembrance Day coin swap sachets.

SPRING into the Mint during Floriade 2017!

During Floriade we are introducing a new way to experience our public galleries. In the place of public tours, from 16 September to 15 October 2017 between 10.00am and 4.00pm, our lovely guides will be stationed at key areas ready and waiting to tell you all the fantastic stories of coins in Australia and how we mint approximately 250 million coins each year.

You can also design and colour-in your own coin, create a possum mask, and check out our robots! If you’re lucky, one of them just might dance for you.

Mint a memento at the Royal Melbourne Show

There’s so much to see and do at the Royal Melbourne show this year – including the chance the opportunity to strike your own coin! Visit the Mint’s stand to strike an ‘M’ for Melbourne counterstamp on the 2017 $1 Uncirculated Coin commemorating the centenary of the Trans-Australian Railway. Available for $5 and only as a Royal Melbourne Show special, this coin is the perfect keepsake to remember all of the fun had at the show!

Experience the wonder of Possum Magic

To celebrate Children's Book Council of Australia - Children’s Book Week 2017, Woolworths and the Royal Australian Mint have joined forces to create three Australian $2 coloured collector coins featuring designs from the children’s book Possum Magic, written by Mem Fox and illustrated by Julie Vivas. The coins will available from Woolworths supermarkets and metro stores nationwide from 15 August for a 3 week period or while stocks last.

A visit to the Mint at the Royal Queensland Show – it’s highly rEKKAmended!

The Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) is one of Queensland's largest annual events, held over ten full days at the Brisbane Showgrounds, and this will be its 140th show.

We are headed to the Ekka with the mobile coin press in tow. Visitors will be able to strike their own coin with a ‘B’ for Brisbane counterstamp on a 2017 $1 Uncirculated Coin commemorating the centenary of the Trans-Australian Railway.

Located at stand JRP 041 in the John Reid Pavilion, the Mint will also have a selection of its latest coin releases for purchase.

Trans-Australian Tour travels up the east coast

The Royal Australian Mint is celebrating 25 years of Bananas in Pyjamas and will be hosting the iconic ABC Kids duo on Sunday 4 June 2017.

Come and join the fun from 10 am – 1 pm.

The public are invited to meet the Bananas, grab a photo opportunity and enjoy the various children’s activities for a ‘bananarific’ day out for the whole family!

Circulating Coin Commemorates Anzac Legacy

Ahead of Anzac Day, the Royal Australian Mint has released a new coloured $2 circulating coin to commemorate the Anzac legacy.

For those who wish to keep this coin, a pack of 5 coins or a $15 collectible version of this coin is available for purchase on the eShop.

Please note postage charges will apply and to ensure everyone has the opportunity to purchase a sachet, there will be a limit of three sachets per order.

The Royal Australian Mint will have two exhibits at the Sydney Royal Easter Show this year in the Heritage Pavilion and the Home, Garden and Lifestyle Hall.

At the Home, Garden and Lifestyle Hall you will be able to buy our newest releases and strike your very own 'S' for Sydney coin; a coin which commemorates 100 years of the Trans-Australian Railway.

Legends of the Anzacs coin collection released by News Corp Australia

News Corp Australia are acknowledging the men and women who have served our country and honouring their gallant or distinguished conduct or service with the 14 part coin collection – Legends of the Anzacs. In recognition of the Anzac Centenary commemorative period each coin explores a different military honours (both Imperial and Australian honours) awarded to Australians throughout the past 100 years.

25th anniversary of the removal Australia’s 1 and 2 cent coins from circulation
