Contact Centre Shutdown over Christmas Period

The Royal Australian Mint's Contact Centre will be closed from 3.30 pm Wednesday 23 December 2015 to 8.30 am Monday 4 January 2016 Australian Eastern Daylight-saving Time (AEDST).

However, you will still be able to place orders online (eshop and jewellery), through mail order and via Fax (+61 6202 6953).

Please note, the Mint will not process or dispatch any orders placed during the shutdown period until the week commencing 4 January 2016.

 
 

Holiday Opening Hours

The Royal Australian Mint would like to wish everyone a happy holiday period and ensure that anyone visiting the Mint during this time is aware of the changes to free public tour times and opening hours. Please keep in mind that the factory will not be in production from Christmas Day and will reopen on Monday 4 January 2016.

Mint is highly commended at the Canberra Region Tourism Awards

As one of Canberra's iconic landmarks, the Royal Australian Mint was highly commended in the Tourist Attraction category last night at the annual Canberra Region Tourism Awards.

Showcasing the variety of the best tourist attractions in the region, the Canberra Region Tourism Awards encourage and promote excellence in visitor experiences.

With over 250 000 visitors a year, of which 50 000 are school students, visiting the Mint in the last financial year, the experience is deemed fun and educational, suitable for the whole family.

We are excited to announce that the Royal Australian Mint Fine Jewellery Collection microsite is now live! Inspired by over 50 years of the Mint's much-loved coin creations, the wide range of on-trend necklaces, rings, cufflinks and much more can now be viewed in detail online.

The Changeover Tour

Approaching the 50th anniversary of decimal currency, the Royal Australian Mint (the Mint) is heading out of Canberra this month with the mobile press in tow to bring the minting experience to the people and share the decimal currency story.

The first leg of The Changeover Tour will reach out to a number of regional centres in New South Wales, starting in Wollongong and then visiting Newcastle, Tamworth and Dubbo.

Answer the call - Coo-ee March

On Saturday 17 October 2015 a group of men and women will depart Gilgandra in a 26 day re-enactment march to honour the Coo-ees. This team will walk in the footsteps of the 26 men who began marching from their hometown towards Sydney to enlist.

The original Coo-ee March was the first of many snowballing recruitment marches to enlist men to join the Australian Imperial Force in 1915. These men increased in number to 263 by the time they had covered the 320 miles, their youthful enthusiasm encouraging many men to answer the call from the Dardanelles along the way.

Lest We Forget coin available from the Mint this weekend

This weekend, the final Floriade weekend, the Royal Australian Mint will be moving its mobile press out into the spring air and counterstamping a poppy symbol onto the much sought-after 2015 $2 Circulating Lest We Forget Coin.

For only $10, you can finally get your hands on this coin which will have a special mark that makes it even more exclusive then the first one - a poppy counterstamp, symbolic of remembrance and the poppies found in Flanders Field.

The ANDA/APTA Coin, Banknote and Stamp Show is on again in Sydney on Friday 9 October and Saturday 10 October. The Mint will not be in attendance at this show, however to continue to support ANDA, a show special will be available for purchase. On Thursday 1 October 2015 the Royal Australian Mint’s CEO Ross MacDiarmid will draw the 2016 $25 Gold Proof Kangaroo at Sunset Coin ballot. The current ballot form needs to be returned to the Mint by close of business Wednesday 30 September 2015. Ballot forms can only be returned by customers with a current Mint customer number as of Monday 14 September 2015. The ballot form is only available via post and cannot be downloaded from the website or online store. Please see below for ballot terms and conditions.

Mint to get fans game ready during Footy Finals Week

The Royal Australian Mint will be bringing the minting experience to Australian Football League (AFL) and National Rugby League (NRL) fans during Footy Finals Week!

You can find us at NRL Nation at Darling Harbour in Sydney to strike your own ‘S’ for Sydney onto a special NRL themed coin.

Saturday 3 October 10am - 9pm

Guided public tours will not be on offer during Floriade 2015, from Saturday 12 September to Sunday 11 October.

We welcome everyone to take advantage of the easy to navigate signs and explanatory information which direct the self-guided visitor. The Mint’s theatrette presentation provides an overview into the coin making process, and the new factory viewing gallery features interactive touchscreens in a range of languages to take the viewer behind the scenes.

Be sure to strike a coin yourself to take away the perfect souvenir.

Mint to be part of fun at Royal Melbourne Show

The Royal Australian Mint is joining in the fun at the Royal Melbourne Show this year! We will be hitting the road with the mobile press to bring show goers the opportunity strike their own 'M' for Melbourne onto the 2015 $1 Anzac Centenary Uncirculated Coin. While visiting our stall you will also have the opportunity to purchase some of our newest products and pick up a copy of the latest Mint Issue magazine - Issue 106.

From Saturday 19 September until Tuesday 29 September you can find us at stall W116 in The Woolworths Fresh Food Pavilion.

Coin Auction register now available

A collection of the Mint’s production standard coins were recently made available through a once-off event hosted by Downies Coin Auctions. This auction was a great success, allowing collectors to purchase rare pieces produced outside of the official mintage of each release.

Celebrate the birth of the second Royal Baby

To commemorate the birth of the newborn baby and second child to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Catherine, the Royal Australian Mint will be releasing two beautifully designed coins in stunning 99.9% fine silver and in uncirculated finish in cupro nickel.

The release of these coins represents Australia’s long affiliation with the modern British monarchy and a symbolic gesture to be remembered for generations to come. These coins highlight the significance of the birth of the new baby who will be cherished the world over.

Information about the 2015 $2 Coloured Circulating Coin

On Sunday 19 April 2015, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer announced the release of a new circulating coin for Australia.

This announcement was made to inform the public of a new circulating coin and its commemorative purpose to mark the Anzac Centenary.

Special Anzac Centenary counterstamp coin at the 2015 Sydney Royal Easter Show

The Sydney Royal Easter Show is just around the corner, and the Royal Australian Mint will be bringing the mobile press to provide an exciting opportunity for show-goers.

For only $5 each, those who visit the Mint’s booth will have the chance to stamp their very own ‘S’ for Sydney on the special commemorative Anzac Centenary $1 uncirculated coin, securing that important memento in the Centenary year and continuing the tradition of remembrance.

There will also be a selection of the latest coin releases available for purchase on the day.

Last chance for Year of the Horse

As the Royal Australian Mint has welcomed in the Year of the Goat with more beautifully crafted coins, the previous year’s Lunar Series: Year of the Horse coins will soon no longer be available for sale. March 30 marks the final opportunity for customers to purchase any of the coins from this series directly from the Mint.

The Lunar Series: Year of the Horse set will still be available for purchase from your local coin dealer after this date but this will be your final chance to have this added to your Legends account.

2015 Anzac Centenary Two Coin Set - Ballot now open

The Royal Australian Mint and New Zealand Post are honoured to partner in the 2015 Anzac Centenary Two Coin Set.  The ballot is now open, will close on Friday 6 March 2015 and be drawn at 10.00 am, Wednesday 11 March 2015.

The commemorative set marks the Centenary of the Gallipoli Landings and the birth of the legend which brought two nations closer together. Only available through the ballot, this exclusive 2015 Anzac Centenary Two Coin Set is strictly limited to a quantity of 1915 sets.
