As one of Canberra's iconic landmarks, the Royal Australian Mint was highly commended in the Tourist Attraction category last night at the annual Canberra Region Tourism Awards.

Showcasing the variety of the best tourist attractions in the region, the Canberra Region Tourism Awards encourage and promote excellence in visitor experiences.

With over 250 000 visitors a year, of which 50 000 are school students, visiting the Mint in the last financial year, the experience is deemed fun and educational, suitable for the whole family.

The Royal Australian Mint's highly-anticipated traditions will continue this year, welcoming in the New Year by giving lucky collectors the chance to strike the last coin of 2015 and the first of 2016.

As the season for giving approaches, the Royal Australian Mint would like to highlight some of our Christmas themed products, our seldom seen collections and our stocking fillers - great ideas for all your gifting needs.

Australia's newest coloured commemorative circulating coin has been announced, honouring Remembrance Day and the special meaning it holds in the hearts of Australians. The release of this coin will mean that Australians will remember this important date when coming across one of these special coins in their change.

On Saturday 17 October 2015 a group of men and women will depart Gilgandra in a 26 day re-enactment march to honour the Coo-ees. This team will walk in the footsteps of the 26 men who began marching from their hometown towards Sydney to enlist.

The original Coo-ee March was the first of many snowballing recruitment marches to enlist men to join the Australian Imperial Force in 1915. These men increased in number to 263 by the time they had covered the 320 miles, their youthful enthusiasm encouraging many men to answer the call from the Dardanelles along the way.

Visitors to the Mint’s stand in Melbourne and Sydney during Footy Finals Week will have the exclusive opportunity to WIN 1 of only 500 limited edition AFL and NRL coins donning the 2015 Grand Final team colours!

We’ll see Hawthorn Football Club and West Coast Eagles represented on the AFL coins!

And for the first time ever, we’ll see NRL team colours on a coin - Brisbane Broncos and North Queensland Cowboys!

The ANDA/APTA Coin, Banknote and Stamp Show is on again in Sydney on Friday 9 October and Saturday 10 October. The Mint will not be in attendance at this show, however to continue to support ANDA, a show special will be available for purchase. The 2015 NRL Telstra Premiership season will be remembered as one of the most exciting in the game’s proud history. To top off this exciting season the Mint will be bringing NRL fans the chance to buy the ultimate finals day souvenir - the 2015 $1 Uncirculated ‘S’ for Sydney Counterstamp Coin for National Rugby League!

It was the moments that matter - the spectacular tries, courageous defence and the brilliant skills of Rugby League's elite stars - that again highlighted why Rugby League is the Greatest Game of All.

On the upcoming public holidays the Royal Australian Mint will be welcoming visitors during the normal weekday opening hours of 8.30 am - 5 pm. These public holidays include Family and Community Day on 28 September and Labour Day on 5 October 2015.

The Royal Australian Mint will be bringing the minting experience to Australian Football League (AFL) and National Rugby League (NRL) fans during Footy Finals Week!

The Royal Australian Mint is joining in the fun at the Royal Melbourne Show this year! We will be hitting the road with the mobile press to bring show goers the opportunity strike their own 'M' for Melbourne onto the 2015 $1 Anzac Centenary Uncirculated Coin. While visiting our stall you will also have the opportunity to purchase some of our newest products and pick up a copy of the latest Mint Issue magazine - Issue 106.

From Saturday 19 September until Tuesday 29 September you can find us at stall W116 in The Woolworths Fresh Food Pavilion.

The world is soon to recognise Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's royal record as she becomes the Commonwealth’s longest-reigning monarch. To celebrate this historic milestone, and as a tribute to her years of service, we are giving you the chance to get your hands on the 2013 $2 Purple-coloured Circulating Coin marking the Queen’s Jubilee, another royal record!

A collection of the Mint’s production standard coins were recently made available through a once-off event hosted by Downies Coin Auctions. This auction was a great success, allowing collectors to purchase rare pieces produced outside of the official mintage of each release.

The Royal Australian Mint recently placed advertisements in The Daily Telegraph, The Sun Herald and The Herald Sun in their Sunday papers.

These advertisements focus on the 50th anniversary of the Mint, inviting everyone to join the celebrations by visiting us during our golden anniversary year. If you cannot make it to the Mint, we invite you to purchase a souvenir and quote the relevant passcode to receive free postage. This advertisement does not imply a free souvenir.

The Royal Australian Mint will be hosting a once-off Winter Warm-Up Sale here at the Mint in Canberra this Thursday 18 June. Come out from the cold between 5.30 pm - 7.30 pm and take advantage of sales on selected items, including some special surprises from the Mint’s Vault.

The event won’t only feature exclusive sales but you will also have the opportunity to meet our newest coin designer and have an up-close look at our latest releases.

With drinks and canapes served throughout the night and lucky door prizes awarded, this event is not to be missed!

At this stage there are no plans for the Mint to attend ANDA Shows this year. However, to continue to support ANDA, a show special will be available to purchase from the ANDA stand at the show in Brisbane, the 2015 $1 B for Brisbane Privy Mark Uncirculated Coin Mob of Roos.

With the Anzac Day service at the Australian War Memorial expected to be one of the biggest ever, Victoria Cross recipient Daniel Keighran VC will be in Canberra to take part at the service as well as perform some other duties such as the coin toss at the Brumbies Anzac match.

The Royal Australian Mint will be running additional free public tours during April. Visitors are invited to join a free public tour, prior bookings are not required. Please note that the Royal Australian Mint will be closed on Good Friday.

The Sydney Royal Easter Show is just around the corner, and the Royal Australian Mint will be bringing the mobile press to provide an exciting opportunity for show-goers.

For only $5 each, those who visit the Mint’s booth will have the chance to stamp their very own ‘S’ for Sydney on the special commemorative Anzac Centenary $1 uncirculated coin, securing that important memento in the Centenary year and continuing the tradition of remembrance.

There will also be a selection of the latest coin releases available for purchase on the day.

The Royal Australian Mint and New Zealand Post are honoured to partner in the 2015 Anzac Centenary Two Coin Set.  The ballot is now open, will close on Friday 6 March 2015 and be drawn at 10.00 am, Wednesday 11 March 2015.

The commemorative set marks the Centenary of the Gallipoli Landings and the birth of the legend which brought two nations closer together. Only available through the ballot, this exclusive 2015 Anzac Centenary Two Coin Set is strictly limited to a quantity of 1915 sets.
