Ashes design coin used in Perth toss sold at auction for $3775

The coin used in the toss of the 3 mobile Ashes Test in Perth sold at auction last week for $3,775 with proceeds going to Cricket Australia's official community partner, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

The Royal Australian Mint donated five (5) coins to Cricket Australia, one for each Test of the 3 mobile Ashes Series.

Queen Elizabeth II to be honoured by the Royal Australian Mint

The Royal Australian Mint will celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's visit to Australia to open the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games and Her Majesty's 80th birthday by releasing three products on February 10.

The Royal collection has been designed by Mr Stuart Devlin, who was granted the Royal Warrant of Appointment as Goldsmith and Jeweller to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

Dr. Jan Peter Balkenende have launched a set of commemorative coins marking the 400th anniversary of the Dutch Ship Duyfken's voyage of discovery , which resulted in the first recorded map of a southern continent which came to be known as Terra Australis and later Australia.

Security review at the Royal Australian Mint

The Royal Australian Mint has extensive security procedures in place that have been the subject of three recent reviews. The Mint has engaged the Australian Federal Police Protective Services to carry out an urgent review of its physical security arrangements to identify any weaknesses in the current system, and to recommend required corrective actions.

The coin used at the coin toss of the first 3 mobile Ashes Series test in Brisbane, donated by the Royal Australian Mint, sold at auction for $5080, with proceeds going to Cricket Australia's official community partner, the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

The winner of the auction is a Doctor from regional Queensland who regularly uses the services of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

First coins for 2006 to commemorate 50th Anniversary of Australian television

Body: 

The first coins of the year minted by the Royal Australian Mint will have a special design to commemorate 50 years of Australian television.

The theme for the popular mintmark series in 2006 is 50 Years of Australian television and the first appearance in the series is the 'C' for Canberra mintmark.
