Exhibition School Programs

The Mint Gallery and Coin shop located at Deakin, Canberra are temporarily closed to the public but school tours are available at a new location.

The Royal Australian Mint in Deakin, is closed as we freshen up for our 60th birthday. We look forward to welcoming you back in Spring 2024 with new galleries, a new shop and improved amenities.

A special exhibition designed for students will be relocating to Canberra Museum & Gallery (CMAG) on London Circuit, Civic. The new exhibition, titled Change: Stories from your pocket opens from 19 February 2024 at CMAG in Civic and explores how our coins tell the stories of Australia – and asks what the future of currency might look like.

In addition to our temporary exhibition at CMAG, we provide virtual programs for students to help them learn about the wonderful world of coin making at the Mint and Australia’s fascinating coin history.

Our general school program is best suited to Years 3-6 students but can be adjusted to suit the needs of any age group from preschool to tertiary.

Our dedicated team can also provide programs tailored to specific year groups, curriculum, or study areas. Contact us at Group.Bookings@ramint.gov.au to enquire about tailored programs.

School programs are approximately 1 hour. CMAG has bus drop off and pick up bays located at 176 London Circuit. We ask that school bags be left on your coaches.

When you arrive

One of our friendly Visitor Experience Hosts will meet you in the CMAG foyer. Please enter CMAG via the London Circuit entrance.
