Exciting news announced on The Morning Show about the 2016 Australian Olympic Team Coin Program and partnership with Woolworths


This morning on The Morning Show on Channel 7, two of the Royal Australian Mint Coin Program Ambassadors basketball player Patty Mills and paratriathlete Kate Doughty made an exciting announcement about an upcoming coin program for the Olympics and Paralympics.

To celebrate Rio 2016, Woolworths and the Mint have joined forces to create six Royal Australian Mint commemorative coins. The $2 coins will be available from Woolworths supermarkets nationwide from the 19th July in the lead-up and throughout the Olympic and Paralympic games.

The Changeover Tour – part 5


For the first time ever the Royal Australian Mint is venturing into the Northern Territory as part of The Changeover Tour! For two days only the Mint will set up pop-up shops in Darwin bringing the latest commemorative coins up north.

The Mint will be part of the fun at the Mindil Beach Sunset Market on 23 June and in Casuarina Square on 25 June 2016. Visit The Changeover Tour to celebrate 50 years of decimal currency as we travel around Australia.

Kate Doughty – Paratriathlon

With the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games fast approaching we are proud to announce that paratriathlon champion, Kate Doughty will be the official 2016 Australian Paralympic Team Coin Program Ambassador!  To celebrate the courage, determination and inspiration shown by the athletes, Kate will join the Mint on the road to Rio to share her story as she prepares to compete for gold.

50th anniversary of Play School


First airing in 1966, Play School is the longest running children’s television show in Australia and is a favourite amongst many. For the past 50 years this educational program has warmed the hearts of children and adults. Therefore, this anniversary has a place in the hearts of many around our nation.

The Mint has released a special memento for the anniversary with the adorable Play School three coin set featuring the famous toys Jemima, Humpty Dumpty, Big Ted and Little Ted!
