The Changeover Tour

Approaching the 50th anniversary of decimal currency, the Royal Australian Mint (the Mint) is heading out of Canberra this month with the mobile press in tow to bring the minting experience to the people and share the decimal currency story.

The first leg of The Changeover Tour will reach out to a number of regional centres in New South Wales, starting in Wollongong and then visiting Newcastle, Tamworth and Dubbo.

Answer the call - Coo-ee March

On Saturday 17 October 2015 a group of men and women will depart Gilgandra in a 26 day re-enactment march to honour the Coo-ees. This team will walk in the footsteps of the 26 men who began marching from their hometown towards Sydney to enlist.

The original Coo-ee March was the first of many snowballing recruitment marches to enlist men to join the Australian Imperial Force in 1915. These men increased in number to 263 by the time they had covered the 320 miles, their youthful enthusiasm encouraging many men to answer the call from the Dardanelles along the way.

Lest We Forget coin available from the Mint this weekend

This weekend, the final Floriade weekend, the Royal Australian Mint will be moving its mobile press out into the spring air and counterstamping a poppy symbol onto the much sought-after 2015 $2 Circulating Lest We Forget Coin.

For only $10, you can finally get your hands on this coin which will have a special mark that makes it even more exclusive then the first one - a poppy counterstamp, symbolic of remembrance and the poppies found in Flanders Field.
