Queensland Three Coin Set

Especially produced for our ‘Sunny State,’ these Three Coin Sets contain the $1 Centenary of Federation logo coin (coloured in the proof version), plus a 20c student-designed and 50c Coat of Arms coins specifically for Queensland. In her beautifully expressive design, Jenifer Gray from Ingham State High School in north-eastern Queensland has utilised the surface of the 20c coin as a time clock of Australian history. Our story begins with a stylised gecko, leaving ripples in the water. The ‘hour’ hand of time points to Federation (1901), with changes in our society reflected in the transformation of footsteps to shoeprints, creating in the sand lasting impressions of our journey. The ‘minute’ hand indicates our Centenary of Federation (2001), succeeded on the continuum of time by a computer chipboard denoting the age of technology extending into the future. On the 50c coin is the elaborate Queensland Coat of Arms, the oldest in Australia. Represented within the shield are the State’s primary industries: a sheaf of wheat, heads of a bull and ram, and gold rising from a heap of quartz. Sugarcane frames the State badge, while the Brolga (the State’s faunal emblem) and the Red Deer support the entire structure. Translated, the Latin motto means ‘Bold but Faithful’. Beautifully presented, the packaging of these Three Coin Sets is in the traditional Queensland colour, maroon. As highest quality collector coins, proof coins are distinguished by a mirror-like background, frosted design and presentation in capsules. Uncirculated coins are higher quality circulation coins, presented in plastic blisters and mounted into specially-developed packaging ideal for displaying the coins. Both sets are minted to demand, with every proof set accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
