Tasmania Three Coin Set

PROOF + UNCIRCULATED
The Tasmanian Three Coin Sets are presented in beautiful green packaging. The set contains the school student designed 20c piece and the 50c Tasmanian Coat of Arms coin. A $1 Centenary of Federation logo coin completes the trio of coins specially dedicated to Tasmania.
Tasmania's Coat of Arms features two Tasmanian Tigers supporting the shield.
These marsupial animals were relatively common in Tasmania at the time of European settlement, but are now believed to be extinct.
The shield features symbols of Tasmania's industry: hops, a sheaf of wheat (Tasmania was a major source of food for the early Australian colonies), a ram, apples, and a thunderbolt which refers to Tasmania's hydro-electric power system.
The red 'passant' lion, a traditional symbol of heraldry that is also featured in the State badge, appears in the crest. The lion holds a pick and shovel to represent mining.
Tasmania's Latin Motto 'Ubertas et Fidelitas' or 'Fruitfulness and Faithfulness' appears at the base of the Coat of Arms.
The 20c coin, designed by Abbey MacDonald from Launceston Church Grammar School, features the Thylacine superimposed on a map of Tasmania. The Thylacine is one the most fabled animals of all of Australian native fauna and looked like large, long dog with stripes, a heavy stiff tail and big head. These marsupial animals were relatively common in Tasmania at the time of European settlement, but are now believed to be extinct.
The proof set features coins with the design in frosted relief on a mirror like background and are individually struck to the highest minting standard. Every proof set includes a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. A concertina-style pack, enabling the coins to be displayed, holds the uncirculated coins creating a unique memento of an important year.
