Rare opportunity to make coin

21 December 2010

Two events are planned to say farewell to 2010 and welcome in the New Year.

To say farewell to 2010 - visit the Mint during the day on Friday 31 December 2010 and be amongst the last people in the world to strike a 2010 $1 Canberra mintmark coin.

If you visit after 2.30pm, you will receive a raffle ticket and go into the draw to strike the very last coin of the year. You will also be awarded with a special certificate and frame for your coin as a memento.

To welcome in the new year - visit the Mint on Saturday 1 January 2011 and be amongst the first people in the world to strike a 2011 $1 Canberra mintmark coin.

We will unveil the new $1 coin design to the public for the first time and the first person through the door will get to strike the very first coin! Special certificates will be awarded to the first 100 visitors.
